I like this set up over the stock Ford pump not only because it has a built in filter base, shut off valve, no more heater hose coming over the fuel bowl bolts & HPOP front cover and by looking at the photo of Mike's/ Nicmike pump it has cleaner lines. It looks like it belongs there and looks heavy duty. I hope Mike will post a photo. Honestly I do not like the look of a coolant filter hanging out there up top side. It looks like an after thought and I have read about some bases leaking and if it doesn't, even if you have valves it's going to leak some when you change it and dripping down the side of the radiator. Where with the IH water pump the filter is where filters should go. That is at a low point to where when it drips, it will only hits the drain pan. To me that alone is worth the cost. I know to some that doesn't matter as far as what drips where.
I'm kinda funny about where things drip!
And after reading the ad it comes with everything you need including thermostat, billet housing a lower hose that is worth $75 compared to the flex hose that costs $50. And if it is an actual IH / Alliant pump you are looking at $380 in parts.
So $20 to put it together as a kit is worth it to me.
Not include shipping.
If I go with a new Ford pump I also need or want a billet thermostat housing, thermostat, lower hose pipe it would cost me $250 Now I still need a coolant filter set up $130. So I'm looking at $380
Not include shipping.
Now I have read others have pieced IH pump (not Alliant) together around $250. And to keep it fair add a billet housing cover $45 which would be $295
Not including their time, tax or fuel.
Choices................. Time and money will tell which way I go.
