Blue,
I have just fitted one of the IH style pumps.
I used the Dieselsite kit

http://www.dieselsite.com/1996-2003f...terpump-1.aspx

This is a well made pump and the kit has everything you need
to do the job.
I did encounter major problems with it because the outlet for
the lower radiator hose hits the steering box.
I had to make some mods to get it to fit.
I can't get a decent photo to illustrate the problem.
I have yet to drive the truck as I am still doing work on it so I can't
say how well it works.
This may be a pecuularity of the DieselSite pump housing and a
genuine IH may not be a problem.

Brian B, that does look like a good kit especially with the filter incorporated with the pump.
I think the price may steer me away from the Dieselsite pump at this stage , i did look at the oem pump at RR , was there any reason you didn't go that way?

Blue,
I specifically wanted the intergrated filter as IH originally designed.
It's the neatest solution.

Brian B, other than the built in provision for the coolant filter, what are the advantages to the IH cast iron water pump over the Ford aluminum pump?

None that I know of.
It's a lot heavier, a disadvantage.
I gave mine a coat of engine enamel paint before I fitted it.

Yes looked at the one from RR and a good price especially if you have a order pending , save a bit on the freight.
I'm not sure if we need the filter set up over here, any comments?

Have you fitted the pump yet?
Was there any difficulty in the fitment?
What mileage / KLM's did you get out of the original pump?

the engine I built didnt come with one. No problem with fitting and I agree regarding the filter. I only use distilled water.

I was persuaded by photo and video on the Dieselsite page.
I know they are promoting their product but the reasoning seemed
sound and I figured that a filter could not do any harm.

I am using this coolant

PG-XL Premixed Coolant | Hi-Tec Oils

bought from here

HT9017-020 20 LTR 20L PG-XL PRE MIXED ready-to-use blend of organic long life and inorganic corrosion inhibitors and ethylene glycol superior corrosion and anti-freeze/anti-boiL petrol dieseL marine mining PGXL PG-XL COOLANT HI-TECH OILS HT9017 - Tru

Australian product, Australian dealer, works for me.

A lot cheaper than the Ford anti-freeze, i will have to look around over here for something similar, thanks for the info Brain B

I think i will go the way of the RR OEM pump as the weight is a factor with my truck and van. thanks for all the input.
