Cold Start making Block Heater a MUST

In my opinion, you are almost there. Now all you need to do is remove the FICM and send it to Ed. I don't believe that will fix the glow plugs, but it's a start (see what I just did there, sorry for the bad pun). The be sure to follow up with the rest of the suggestions on the form, batteries, alternator
Mr. Nobody, I checked the VLT while idling 14.1, I have cleaned the battery terminals and used a protective spray in addition to 'ringing' the battery post with felt. Is the VLT reading from my Scan Gauge II the output of my alternator or do I need to check it at the alternator?

Could be wrong, but I don't believe that that is completely true - especially on the premium service. I guess I will check out the website - haven't been there in a long time.
Edit .............
Looks like the OEM service is as you said - he just replaces the out-of-spec components ($195 and $225). He upgrades components for the Premium ($325) and Ultra service ($425 for lifetime warranty).

This is the premium service. There are no guarantees that any components get replaced, only the ones that don't test out as if they are new.

If you have the opportunity to scan it with a code reader it may pick up a code that the ScanGauge2 couldn't.

I'm just making sure that you don't just plop another FICM in just to find that your batts are bad, or your alternator. I do not believe that the scanguageII lies very often. Those look like good charging volts to me, but I suppose we shall see what the liver has to say.
Ok I see what you are saying now, forgive me I am a little slow on the uptake. Is it possible you suspect the glow plugs because of the fact that when I plug in the block heater I have no issues starting? The batteries are not new but are less than two years old and check 12.9 volts or better when key is off, using my meter to check voltage. Also is the VLT on SGII alternator output?

If the glow plugs and GPCM are good then the FICM may be the only issue.

Send Ed your FICM, Harry, and let him take care of it. This isn't someplace you want to go cheap on. All you can get around here are the Dorman FICM's and they suck. He's pretty dang quick on turn around time.
