I/C pipeing

I just have a couple questions about my I/C install. I just bought a 7.3 PSD intercooler to put in my 86. I am looking into the pipeing and where to get it from. I have been looking into the builder kits on columbia river but the largest pipe they sell is 2.25 OD. The pipeing on my dads PSD is 3in. so im assuming id be better off routing it all in the 3in. What do yall think? 2.25 or should I hunt down some 3in. mandrell bends

2.25" will get you higher boost pressure than the 3" will. But 3" will get you lower EGT's, at the cost of lower boost pressure.

Its weird how they put it on their site. Its weird how they say it cus some of those pipe outside diameters are pretty small and they also advertise a radius on that which is half a circle diameter, so the measurements are kinda contradictive. I would call them up. I'm pretty sure they do sell 3". Iirc 91dirty got 3" from them. Its just confusing how they advertise it...

Also I think you missed the second page of kits. There are ones on the second page advertising bigger than 2.25". I saw ones that said 4"OD. Just check it out on the page you were on and then click next page.

Oh hell I did't see the 2nd page lol yeah they show 3in. OD. I'm assuming that's it, but like you said they advertise their stuff kinda weird. Ill give them a call. I think I'm gonna just use 3in. pipeing, I'm mostly after lower egt's, and the super duties use 3in. so that's reason enough for me. Thanks for the input

i ran a much smaller intercooler than super duty trucks.as is the turbo of course.iv got a now maxxed out ip,and i ran 2 and quarter.iv never had any issues with egt's.i think the max iv ever seen when hauling heavy and towing the dump trailer both packed with wood up steep grades was 1k egt readings.
it's kinda like everything.there's no point in getting carried away unless you run larger turbo's and intercoolers, and other supporting internal engine mods for those.
if your going to run one of the big 3 kit sized turbo's i don't think id make the little buggers work extra trying to fill up more cooler or pipes than they could benefit from.of course i like instant snap off the line too without any of the mushy cornflakes.

I think 2.5 would be a happy medium easier to route than 3" but big enough for the typical IDI.
