boost questions

boost questions
How much boost should a stock obs 7.3 with a 3 inch down pipe have ...
and how much with a ts 6 position

somewhere in the 97 shop manual it says that if the truck (bone stock) makes 15 psi of boost in 3/4 gear at WOT up a hill or under load, the engine is operating at its 'rated power output' or something like that.

I think that's a conservative number, though, as I believe guys hit 20 psi with just a DP and 6637 and no other mods pretty regularly. I hit 15 regularly with known up-pipe leaks and just a 3" DP and 6637 DIY intake.

I have no idea on chipped boost levels.

With intake and 4" exh/dp i could get 20..but only if it was right. with my chip i could get 24. No up pipe leaks!

With my chip and mods unloaded I can get about 28psi. Loaded I can get over 30psi. But then one of my fittings for my boost gauge starts to leak.

Yes it's a Cali truck with 4:10's. 140v IDM intercooler bellowed uppipes, 3" DP, DP tuner f-6 chip, t-500 hpop, 1.0 quick spool turbo exhaust housing, 6637 intake, electric fuel. No boost leaks.

That sounds like a nice set-up for not much money!
