I hope my big mouth did not write a check my big *** can't cover, but here goes. The other night at a friends house I stated that the stock boost pressure.......or rather the boost pressure on my SCMT tuned PSD ran around 20. The JERK that actually started this "conversation" seemed to have "all the answers". He said how could your PSD put out 20 psi of boost pressure when a turbo Porsche puts out around 6 psi? I told him the PSD is not a Porsche.....and he should get back to me when I need info on the turbo boost of a Porsche. I have a feeling this dude is going to try to prove me wrong.....since he is the type to make an example of those around him.....I guess he wants to feel important. Sooooooooo, I hope I was right, because I made the statement based on what my limited memory told me I read on FTE. C'mon everybody...make me a hero, so I can rub this fool's face in it!
my buddy's makes about 26-28psi with a PSD but my other buddy makes close to 35psi with his dodge. The PSD is almost stock with the exception of straight pipe and tymay intake. That porche is not as near as big as this diesel, plus is it it diesel too? cause a diesel makes alot more exhaust then a gasser ever will He is so full of crap. What does he drive a ricer? 6psi oh boy you better tell him to detune it before he blows a head gasket or the heads right off. These ricer boys don't know a danm thing about real power..

Actually, this dude rides a Schwinn!!! He lost his license!!!! You know how these know it alls are. I was pretty confidant in my reply about the 20 psi, but I just wanted to make fer dang sure since he is going to bring it up again, and I want to shut his bike ridin' mouth up! Cool!!!!! I think I'll instigate the next conversation and tell him to stick with the Porsches!
My '99 puts out 17.2 psi boost, checked by the dealer, when looking for my lack of power problem. I was told 17.1 was the upper limit set by Ford for the turbo pressure. The dealer never did fix my truck, I had to go to another one to get it fixed, so take it FWIW. BTW the truck was bone stock, right down to the motorcraft air filter.

I forgot to answer on this too. I think the guy is talking out his back side. The Thunderbird turbo coupe redlined at 16 psi boost. That was a 15 year old motor when they put the turbo on it!!! I find it hard to believe a $50,000+ car has a motor/ turbo combo that only puts out 6psi of boost. Even Arctic cat's new turbocharged snowmobile puts out 21 psi boost. Hehehehe
My '02 running a SCMT runs about 20 PSI when I really romp on it and wind it out, I've added a boost tube to the wastegate actuator, that gives me about 3 PSI more, and I see up to 23 PSI.
If I drive easy around town I see 0 to 7 PSI or so.
A Turbo Porsche puts out 12-16psi of boost depending on tuning. A Porsche is a gas engine, they cannot take the boost a diesel can. Diesels can take pretty much as much boost AND fuel as you can give them but they have thier limits too. I defend both and have/had both. Apples and oranges.
I have just installed the Banks Stinger-plus system. Banks engineering says to expect 18-21 lbs of boost. My 99 F350 put out exactly 20 lbs. Carroll Allison

Soooooo, I guess I WAS right! Man I love it when I can run my mouth and actually be right! I can't wait to get this moron cornered and give him a little piece. The funny thing is....of course I think it is BS is that he supposedly worked for the Porsche factory and is supposed to know all about this. Man I LOVE t when I am right
On my truck, before I put in my chip, I could reach 20 easily. After the chip, I could reach 25 easily. After the propane, I blow right past 30, and a lot of ricers.

DANG, Quadzilla....'yer running BBQ gas now! I'm impressed. I want one!!!!
In a gasser you've got to keep the boost below the point were you get detonation. The point were you get detonation depends on a lot of things (compression ratio, combustion chamber geometery, charge temp. etc.)
With a diesel you've got to to have detonation or it woun't run. So, for us, the big problem that the gassers have, is eliminated. We just have to keep exhaust temp's low enough that we don't melt anything.
