Sledman, The FE uses a round top bell than no other Ford engine uses. Aftermarket bells start around $800-900.00 putting you in the $3,000.00 range for your conversion.
One question HIO won't that shifter be in the middle of your seat? I hope you have bucket seats from the way it looks to me at least
Good question. I had that concern too... I hated the NP435 cuz I would knock my knuckles on the dash.....
I spoke to Paul Coffey at MDL and let him know I'm not that tall and was planning on bucket seats. He recommended the second, rear-most position for the shifter and a "candy cane" Hurst shift lever (for that period-correct look).
Here is where it ends up upon installation ... I think it's gonna be perfect with buckets. Prolly would be OK with a bench too.
HIO, A real sweet set up, another option is to use a 3/8" x2" piece of flat stock as long as needed to locate the handle where you want it. I did that to locate the handle with the t45 in my 67 XL.

Thanks... She's come a long way.
Good to know. Hopefully it won't come to that because I want the rig to look like it came with it. I'm also using a 70 Mustang shift boot and bezel. The plan for the truck is just enough visible cues to pique curiosity...
HIO, That is how my 67 XL is set up. No bling all parts in the correct colors.
People walk by at the cruise nights and every so often a sharp guy will catch the conversion. It only took 9 years. Hope to be converting the 68 Ranger to a gen 2 Lightning soon. Kenny
