Nicole slid off the road on the ice yesterday with her Expedition. Luckily onto a field approach so a little shoveling and she drove out. Good thing too because my 4x4 is not working on my F250. My front drivers hub does not engage even if I lock in manually. Any ideas?
Good morning Dave! Didn't realize you like Monday so much.

Good morning Lee! Glad to hear it was easy for Nicole to get out. Is the the hubs on the '07 the same as mine? I am not sure I guess. It's weird they would not lock in manually. May just need to be taken apart and cleaned and get some new grease in the hub.
I do not know on hubs. It will lock in some times but does not seem like completely as if I get into it it will skip. The lock turns freely but may just need to be cleaned. I will need to look up how to take them apart and clean them.
I would not have called a tow truck for that. I still have my Chevy and a lot of neighbors with 200hp tractors.

is the trasfercase electronic shift or manual? If electronic maybe the motor isn't always switching it to 4x4? On the first and second generation explorers/rangers, if the electic shift motors aren't used much they sieze up. are you able to pull the shift motor and turn it manually? you can on the older explorer/rangers anyways.
last winter your wife would have called the tow truck driver...
Well not last winter but the winter before she would have for sure but then of course she was sleeping with the tow truck driver!

Sounds like your hubs need some extra lubrication!

That was a surprise for sure. And of course I missed most of the game.
