Hello everybody. I helped a buddy with his STI today. Loaded up the snowmoturd on the trailer with a fancy new cover. Whose great idea was this anyway?
Got the garage rearranged, the cycles away, and the snowblower & snowmobile in the garage. And got both running though the snowmobile isn't idling well.
I had fun outdoors in the cold and snow.
Got the replacement plow on the explorer. Wasn't bad, had to move two tabs on each side and weld them back on. Still need to transfer the back drag from the old one to the other one
Showing the different mounting ear widths.
Showing where it bolts on and cross member modified. I left the outer most tabs in place, moved the middle ones to the far outside and moved the inner ones 1.5" father out. The original plow setup was for a small pickup so mounting tabs were 19" apart. The replacement is for a full truch and mounting tabs 22 1/4" apart. Going from 7' to a 7.5' plow now. Little heavier

Plow on explorer, 7.5' full size plow, heavier
When I first hooked up hoses, the angle wasn't working, pump would come on for left angle but not move, pump wouldn't come on for right. It was working with the old plow. Thought maybe ice in the pistons seizing them up and maybe cable out of adjustment. So I pulled the cover off the lower compartment, in picture. So got the cover off and it was half filled with ice not letting the arm move. Cleaned out the ice and now works good.
