I guess if you wanted tons of possibilities you could add temp sensors for the front and rear end. I'm sure the list can go on but its a waste if the PCM already reads it. If you want to display more, you can tether 2 CTS modules together and see an additional 8 PIDs.

What's the deal with their sensor add on? I guess I don't understand the point of it if the PCM already reads all sensors.

Here's the skinny on the Edge stuff ....

The simplist device they have that reads the PCM and then displays the values is the Insight. There are two models ... a CTS and a CS. CTS is the touch screen version. CS has regular buttons.

They have another product line called the Attitude, also in CTS and CS. This one allows you to adjust the power level and give the truck more HP by coming with a plug in chip. It is generally not recommended for 6.0 owners.

Evolution CTS and CS is for gas engines.

The part # for their Insight CTS is 83830.

I have the Insight CTS so the following relates the CTS. The CS may be similar but I can't say for 100%.
On the back of the CTS is a couple of input ports. One looks like an RCA jack and is for a rear view camera.
Above that is a bunch of small little squares in 2 rows of 10 if I recall. That is where the main cable plugs in and goes to the OBD II port.
Above that again is more of the small squares in 2 rows of 6. That is where the accessories attach.

If you buy the EGT probe labeled "EGT accessory for CTS (non-expandable)" part # 98601 then it will plug into the CTS at the 2x6 location and it will read EGT's, but that is all you will be able to read as an extra.

Edge then came out with an expandable system called EAS. This allows you to daisy-chain more than one sensor into the rear of the CTS unit and then you can read all the sensors you add.

http://www.edgeproducts.com/product_images/whats_happening_article-pdf-63.pdf

To do this you have to buy their "EAS Starter Kit" (a cable basically) part # 98602. If you buy the "EAS Expandable EGT with Starter Kit for CS and CTS" part # 98603 then you get the EGT probe along with the part # 98602.

Once you plug the EAS Starter Kit cable # 98602 into the back of your CTS you can now add the EGT probe and still have a place to attach more sensors. To attach more sensors you need to buy "EAS Universal Sensor Input" # 98605. It attaches inline with the cable (# 98602) and has 2 connects for adding sensors. Edge then sells pressure sensors (EAS Pressure Sensor # 98607) and temperature sensors (EAS Temperature Sensor #98608) individually that can be added as needed.

Edge Products| Products

I'm sure that's all as clear as mud.

So as an example if you wanted to have an Edge CTS Insight on your dash that also displayed coolant pressure, fuel pressure, EGT temp and lets say rear diff temp as an example then you would need to buy:

1 of Edge Insight CTS # 83830
1 of EAS Expandable EGT Starter Kit # 98603
2 of EAS Universal Sensor Input # 98605
2 of EAS Pressure Sensor # 98607
2 of EAS Temperature Sensor # 98608

On the Edge website the list price on all that stuff is:

# 83830 -- $419.69 x1 -> $419.69
# 98603 -- $135.70 x1 -> $135.70
# 98605 -- $156.73 x2 -> $313.46
# 98607 -- $135.70 x2 -> $271.40
# 98608 -- $41.02 x2 -> $82.04

Total -- $1,222.29

You don't have to buy it all at once, and as you have found it can be gotten for a lot cheaper on other sites and when sales are on. you can also scale back on the add-on sensors or add more.

The items I can currently read on my Edge Insight CTS without any probes or add-ons are:

Accelerator Pedal Position
Barometric Pressure
Battery Voltage
Corrected Vehicle Speed
Engine Coolant Temp
Engine Load
Engine Oil Temp
Engine RPM
Exhaust Backpressure
FICM Syncronization
FICM Voltage
G Force
G Force Calculated
G Force Lateral
Gear & TCL
ICP Voltage
INJ Press Regulator
Injection Control Pressure
Injector Pulse Width
Intake Air Temp
Main INJPWR
Manifold Abs Pressure
Mass Air Flow
Mileage Average
Mileage Coach
Mileage Instant
Percent Grade
Run Time
TCC Duty Cycle
Torque
Trans Fluid Temp
Trip Odometer
Turbo Boost
VGT Duty Cycle

In addition to the sensors there a couple of other things that can be added including turbo timers and switches.

I hope that helps.

That's helps out *** loads, thank you a ton for that post. Will definitely send reps. Just ordered my CTS and got the free EAS expandable EGT cable and free next day shipping. Thanks to everyone who helped with this. I'm sure I'll be adding to this thread, my need a little help with the installation.

No problem. Thanks for the reps. Small way to give back for all the help and advice I take from this site.

One other thing to mention is that you can also data log with the Edge.

On one of the menu's you click on Data Logging, then select the file you want to start recording in. Drive around or let the engine run until you have collected the amount of info you want. Go back to the data logging menu to stop recording.

Then you need to hook up your Edge to your computer and use the Edge software to find and download the data file. You can save it to your computer as an excel file and from there you can neaten it up .... delete unnecessary column's, change the number of decimal places, etc.

One of my data logs is attached as an excel file.

Awesome. I can't wait to get it hooked up and dick around with it to check everything out. Should I mount EGT sensor on down pipe or what?

I don't know. I haven't hooked mine up yet. If I was to do it I believe a good spot is the drivers side exhaust manifold after the last port, but I could be wrong. Haven't reaserched it much as it's not on my to-do list just yet.

Enjoy the Insight. It's a fun thing to own.

Sorry about all the extra posts can't figure out how to edit on the phone. But I just looked a XDP's site, and looking at the ISSPRO gauges they're apparently on sale, like a lot. Looked at diesel manors site and the prices were about the same as XDP's but it doesn't say anywhere on they're site about anything being on sale.
Does anyone know if XDP's prices are just extremely high compared to Diesel Manor or what? XDP's sale ends tomorrow so hopefully I can figure something out and save loads on the analogs too.

I use the same gauge for post/pre turbo, my other gauge is fuel/coolant pressure. I change using the switches on my 650 lower dash. When towing, i like to let temps get below 375, post temp falls slower than pre so to prevent turbo damage.
