Its been almost a week now since the o/d light flashing and ever since I had that long 1-2 shift in a previous post my long shift from 1-2 has yet to return. Shifts perfectly from 1-2 since (knock on wood). My Speedo needle is still bounching above 45 mph but NO WHERES close to as bad as it was. bounces a little but still not as smooth as it should be. (Yes I removed the VSS and wiped it off again). As for my rolling in neutral thing, that has been happening non consistintly and when it does and I step on the gas it does not catch hard like it used to. I have been driving it and it hasnt done anything else unusual yet. Other than that everything has seemed to be normal. When i changed the fluid and filter from my whole detent spring mess, I put in two jugs of the Lucas Transmission oil. I have firsthand experience of seeing that stuff work miricles. (revived my neighbors 89 bronco that wouldnt move, still driving to this day). I wonder if I did have a internal leak and it is swelling up the seals?
Reviving my old thread here so people who read this can have a history of this tranny,
on the way home from work today my OD light started blinking. Recently the truck has been doing almost none of the above posted issues (once and a while it will roll back when stopped).
Well i had my buddy come over to check the code but the OD light would not blink unless the truck was running.
So i started the truck, ran for about 7 sec then died. Restart, same thing. Runs fine without the code reader plugged in, but when it is it kills the motor. why is it doing that?
My buddys code reader is a decent one
As for the truck driving, have all gears appears to shift fine
I went and did some research soon after posting that and discovered that as well.
I went to another family friend whos got a reader that will read these trucks but he wasnt home. On the way there though the truck drove REALLY good. WAY better than it ever drove with the light off. Everything is working and all my gears are there, gonna try and get codes tomorrow so I will get back to you guys then

The light does not have to be blinking to read the codes. Once the light blinks the code is stored in memory. It will remain there for about a month after the last time it blinks.

Oh I didnt know that. Learn something new everyday, either way my buddy's reader couldnt pull the code
EDIT: I forgot to mention that my speedo needle bounces a little at 50 mph
But what really has me baffled is why is the truck shifting so much better now that it is throwing a code? It's shifting great with a full load of scrap in it now
Truck drove beutifully, all the way to the scrap yard, school, to work, but on the way home from work the od light stopped blinking and the truck started the neutral when stopped nonsense on and off again.
BUT, I did notice that when the OD was OFF it didnt seem to do the neutral when stopped thing, when OD was ON it would sometimes do it.
EDIT: Didnt get to pull codes, my friend (the one with the scanner that works on these trucks) is not around
