I while back i posted about how my truck had the dreaded code. I was going to check the pressure with a gauge that went to 6000psi i had but then i got the AE and decided to see what it was. No wonder it kept pulling that code, the pump cannot get over 1800PSI, it did once at a shift spike it shot up to 3200PSI. Thats with the EVO on Extreme. Now my question is, with the reman 17degree pumps i thought i read that they were a hit and miss? I cant see much being worse than mine, im going to try it with my truck on stock, but i could not get it over 1800 until it had one shift spike, that i could not reproduce the rest of my drive.
John look at two PID's Injection control pressure (ICP) and Injection control pressure duty cycle(IPR). Write down or datalog this test.
In Park/Nuetral with Parking brake set
Get ICP and IPR duty cycle at idle
Hold Truck at WOT for 3 minutes get ICP and IPR DC at start
Get a couple of readings during the test and at the end, also note the Highest and Lowest values for both sensors. ICP should not fall below 1800 and IPR DC should not go over 65%
Dang man that early pump sucks. Do the early 99 trucks have a 15* swash? Either you have some really hot tunes or a weak pump! I am thinking weak pump. I can't afford AE and a Laptop along with the other things i want more than that, so im rigging up a permanent gauge setup.
Yup, its the 15*. It sucks. I dont think the evolutions tunes are that hot so im guessin the pump is just extreme weak since i have pulled that code on stock before. Im going to hopefully take it for a drive tommorrow on stock and see what the pressures are then im going to do the diagnostic method alan mentioned. I got a small 0-6000 psi gauge if ya want it.
