Stalling/Cutting Out During Rain

This only happens when it's raining, light and or heavy. Intermittent fraction of a second stall. If am off throttle coming to a stop when it does it then it will die completely. If I traveling down the road when it happens it will just stall for an instant. May do it a few times during the first couple miles and then not do it at all the next several miles, or visa versa. Only thing consistent is that it does it every time it rains and only when it rains. I have checked wires under the truck going to Transmission and even put Bulb Grease in all Transmission connectors and CPS. ?????

Yeah, that's indicative of a CPS going out. The wipers being on is what causes the interruption.

Changing the ground wire on the wiper motor has proven to help alleviate the problem.

Just recently happened to me. I bet you have an aftermarket CPS. I did, and I switched back to my OEM CPS.

CPS has just around 1500-2000 miles on it. What's the deal with the wiper motor? Ground it to something else?

Yes, I should have been more clear.

Move the ground wire for the wiper motor from where it is, to its own separate grounding point.

Will give that a shot this weekend. Is it normal for this to show up after years of know problems? Also are certain color CPS's more prone to this than others? I had put a Grey CPS in while trouble shooting what turned out to be a ICP issue, had black in before. Hearing good things about the BW CPS and planning a thread search for more info on different CPS.

Go to the dealership. If I recall, they weren't that much more than where I got my POS from Autozone.

The discussion of color of the CPS only has to do with Ford or International ones and is pretty much pointless now anyway since the original supplies of black have been exhausted.

There have been numerous reported issues with aftermarket CPS of every different color. If you've got one, try driving around all day with your wipers on when it's not raining. See if you have the same "only happens when it's raining" problems. If you do, go to Ford and buy a CPS.

My spare is Black so I am in luck on that. It is the one I took out when trouble shooting another issue a few months back. Less than 5k miles on it. May try riding with the wipers before I change it so I know for sure. That's if I can stand the noise long enough.

Not so sure that the problem is your CPS per say. I believe that you are getting moisture around the plug in or where is goes into the block. Take out and clean up and put some electric grease to get a good tight seal.

Did that and it still cut out in the rain. The wipe thing makes sense, just have to confirm it.

Wiper theory has been confirmed. Only does it when using the wiper delay. Try and move ground tomorrow
