Grounding/Static strap can't find right length

I have a F350, and I cant find a strap I think would be long enough for my truck. Do you use the 18''? Or can you find longer

Which one are you trying to replace?? I've used replacement negative battery cables. A ground is a ground, you just need to make sure the connections are clean and secure.

They attach to the frame and drag on the ground under the truck

buy a length of 0/1 cable...strip about 4 inches of bare copper that will drag on the ground and attach the other end to the frame. Cheaper than the for sale static straps, and works just as well.

School buses and ambulances (IIRC) use chains. I can't remember what fuel transports use. I thought that this has become more important since tires use less carbon and more silicone (?).

I am repeating anecdotal recollections and I don't understand what "grounding" to a concrete road is really about.

I work in the fork lift industry, and electric fork lifts require static straps to avoid static discharge into components and operators. The only issues I see with using chains, is that they have a tendency to catch in drain covers....which is bad juju. A length of welding cable will give you years of happy static free living.

You can go to a electrical contractors supply and get some braided
bonding cable. The other place to try would be an industrial battery
supply house and they should have it.

Here is some on Ebay
25 Feet 1 inch Braided Ground Strap Grounding | eBay

Or you can try
braided grounding products - Grainger Industrial Supply

Thanks all. I think I will try this. Do you know if it will fray?

Make it a little long and tin the end. Put the excess at the top
so you can secure it. Then feed it out each time it starts to fray.
Then trim and re-tin the end.

So, what's the point in having one? Ford didn't include one.

it isn't required, it just keeps you from getting zapped especially in the winter months when the air is extremely dry.
