Intro 74 F100 4x4...460 swap

Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself and my newly acquired 74 F100 4x4. Long story short i bought it in NY and drove it back to MA without a problem. Its got the 360 (has a 4 bbl carb which is weird), and a 4 spd. The best part is, it came with everything from an 85 F250 to swap a 460 with the stock 360. The F250 only had 19k miles on it, but the body rotted around it so the good stuff was removed.

I have the motor, 4 speed (T-19?), transfer case, both driveshafts, and the accessories and brackets from the F250. SO i know that i at least need the motor mounts and to figure out the exhaust.

So, i was going to drive the 360 for a while since it seemed to be running fine. I replaced the valve cover gaskets yesterday and noticed that the drivers side had some milky oil over the first and last cylinder. It looks like i need to swap sooner rather than later!

Is there anything that i should do to the motor, etc while its currently out of the car? Is there anything else that i need to do this swap? From what i have been reading it seems fairly straight forward.

I didnt want to take it all the ways down with new gaskets but i am planning on the normal gasket replacement (VC, oil pan, waterpump). I also got a new timing chain, and am going to do a general tune up. It has a Carter 9637 carb on it (625 cfm)

If you guys have any tips/tricks/things i should know it will be greatly appreciated

Happy Veterans Day!

well, lets see.....a 74 F100 4x4 w/4 speed will( or should) have a married Dana 21 single speed T-case, so the swap to a 460/t-19/BW married case shouldnt require too much changing of mounts, since the new guts will be in similar positions.......Do you have power steering? Obviously, you will need to buy or fab new motor mounts, and i cant remember the wheelbase on an 85 F250, but i seem to recall an F100 longbed from 73 on is 133"?......Sounds like you got lucky to get most of the stuff you will need as a package deal. a previous owner swapped intake manifolds on your 360, thats why youve got a 4 barrel, or you just might be lucky and someone swapped in a 390???, either way running with a 4 bbl, when your done you can sell it and recoup some of your money, and i cant remember clearly, but the Np435 tranny and its adapter to mate it with a Dana T-case MAY have some value to the early Bronco guys.......

The Truck

360 out

L&L mounts in

Think im going to stick with the NP435 trans and Dana 21. The U joints are different between those and the T19, so i dont really want to mess with them.

Still trying to figure out the exhaust, any suggestions?

edit: pictures are from my album, any idea why they arent working?
edt: nailed it! Thanks HIO

460 Swap?

Lemme know if you need mounts for the 460 swap. I've got a pair of TransDapt frame mounts, insulators, and shells I am willing to part with.

I'm always open to suggestions... I didn't want to go and buy a 351/400 housing if I didn't have to. So for the bellhousing I was going to follow the steps in this thread:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/764006-460-swap.html

unless anyone knows of a better solution

what route did you go Hoffy?
