I just got off the interstate with my new scan gauge 2 checking my eot and ect. I averaged between 8 and 10 degree deltas. Is this ok? I think they could have been closer but the engine thermostat may need replaced. The warmest it got was 192 and that was under acceleration on the enrltry ramp. It fluctuated between 188 and 185 the reat of the time. What do you all think of this. Thanks.
sounds good to me, alot of folks on here recommend the coolant be 190 warmed up all the time. any lower it is defective. some have had to replace several times to get a good one. but your deltas seem spot on, as long as they are within 1 degree of each other after it sitting overnight (coldsoak).
Looks good, no problems there. As far as the t-stat, it seems normal too from recent discussions. I put a brand new one in last weekend and I run pretty much the same ECT as you. The ONLY time I see 190* or more, is sitting at a stoplight, or WOT. That's with no load.
If your outdoor temps are cool, like 70 or below i don't think a tstat is worth it for a few degrees. If it is 90 and you had the a/c on then a tstat would prob help.
Thanks for all the quick replies. I just bought this truck in July without first checking it with a scan gauge and I have been very lucky and pleased with it. Every thing seems to be checking out great so far. I think the only thing that may need to be done is the stc fitting.
Welcome aboard. Spent a few weeks watching things with the sg2. Voltage on monday am before you crank, to see how batteries ate holding up. Ditto, ficm voltages.
Watch injector, fan, tft, etc. To learn how they act.
The fan speed seems fine at about 460-490 rpm at idle and picks up speed fast at acceleration. TFt stays around 147 when cruising unloaded at 65-70 mph. I still need to plug the injector pids into the SG ii.

That's a lot of fan speed at idle. Mine typically runs around 250 at warm idle......
FWIW--the injector pids are pretty worthless in the SGII.
If you have an HVAC function that's running the compressor it may alter the fan speed but usually that's only on MAX A/C. I'm betting your ambient temps aren't high enough to cause a "high" fan speed either.
It was cool last night at about 40* and I had the defrost on which I believe makes the. Ac compressor run.
It does but I'm not sure that it necessarily affects the fan speed. Try with HVAC off or just floor heat if necessary and see what it reads at idle. FSS has so many parameters that make it run it's hard for me to remember them all--LOL.
