Hi everyone. I'm doing a build of a 49 F-1 pretty much by myself after being away from "Cars & Trucks" for nearly 40 years. It's my intention to get the straight flathead 6 (226) running, convert to 12 V, rebuild the brakes, rebuild the box floor, do the body work and paint myself, etc etc. I'm kind of in the middle of nowhere here in Ennis Montana, so no one around to pick their brain and such. I have picked up a single wire alternator and was wondering if someone could point me to a thread here on the forum that would tell me how to mount it. I've spent a couple hours searching and no luck, unfortunately. Thanks for the help in advance !!
I went with a ford 4 wire alternator, I used the lower generator bracket and then completely fabbed the upper bracket out of 1 1/2 strap... terrible pic (it was a timing pic, not a alt bracket pic)... so far 2k miles and not one issue with alt or bracket:
in fact my pic is useless... all you can see is the back of the bolt head.... will repost when I have a useful pic
Thanks for the info. I was thinking some strap iron would be the answer, but wasn't sure. I havn't even pulled the old generator off yet. Probably need to do that then go from there. I would appreciate any pics you want to share!
You really need 3 points of anchoring on it, not all in the same plane. If you only use the ears at the front, it will jiggle and eventually fatigue the front mounts.

Hiya Tinman. I'm excited to be working on this truck and definitely will be needing the expertise found here on the forums. Now.. to figure out how get the bleeping pic of my truck associated with my ID!
