I used the same stuff all over my floor, didn't put any in the headliner though. Used that and mass backed carpet. It's nice a quiet inside now.

Ya, that would be nice. We don't even use the radio that much, maybe now we will. As Nate was pointing out, I do have preiunum sound. I have that silver looking amp under the dash, couldn't see it until the dash was out. It is a CD player and the sound is better then the mule, not to bad for a stock system. I wish is wasn't all tore apart so I could test it out, LOL

I'm trying to decide if I should get the mass backed carpet. I probably will, just concerned if it will fit OK because I've built the floor up. Did it fit OK for you?

Again, looking great Glenn!

Been reading on your progress Glenn, looks very nice indeed! Does your truck have a rubber floor or carpet? I found it strange that mine is loaded and has a rubber floor. Don't get me wrong id much have the rubber floor than carpet for cleaning purposes but I wondered if there was a sound difference between the two.

Looks awesome! I'm sure you and your wife will be happy!

I think it will fit Glenn, I put the dyno mat down in my and the thick insulation mat that come's rolls on top of that Plus the factory insulation on the back of the carpet and it fit just fine.

Its very hard to see from the picture because I used what they call Quadmat, it has the same sound proofing as the silver stuff with added insulation. I wanted that on the firewall as much as possible. I also brought it down onto the floor over what I already had on the floor for a 'double' whammy! I left the holes open for the body mounts so I can get to them later. I left pieces to cover of the holes for later.

Last year I put sound proofing under the hood, a layer of dynamat and a foam hoodliner sold by dynamat. I added nine one foot by one foot sections to that for a thriple layer of sound proofing, LOL That leaves one more item to do times four, the doors. I hate pulling off door panels, not one of my favorite things to do but then I'll be done!!

That looks real good, Glenn. I am anxious to hear how it works for you.

It fit decently. There are some spots like right on the side of my truck around the mid cab pillars and immediately behind the rear brackets of my front seat where it has some "play" I guess you'd say. But it's slowly starting to lay down and look right. Really wasn't that bad before you just noticed it if you wen't feeling around.

I think I'm going with this, on a drop down it explains 'mass backing'. I'm not dead set on this company yet, if anybody has a suggestion, I'm all ears. I might get their headliner too.

Thanks, mine has carpet but I have considered rubber mat. Rubber might insulate better, IDK. I hope my wife will be happy, if not I'll buy a 6.7, LOL.

Good to know it will fit, I guess there is no such thing as to much insulation!

Thanks Nate, I'm anxious too but while its apart I'm going to do a compression check, body mounts, hydroboost, fix up pipes, fix manifold leak, finish my 38 gallon rear tank, its to early, I know I'm forgetting something else or two, LOL

Thanks Brett, I was just thinking that if you pile in too much sound proofing that a guy might have problems getting it down under the molding around the edges.

It really ain't that bad ol' bird. I'd do it again. My interior is really quiet, yours will be even quieter with that matting in the headliner.

You wouldn't know what to do with yourself all winter long if you didn't have a truck to-do list.

If you end up adding so much that you have a hard time getting it to lay down flat at the edges you can always strip back some insulation at the edges to kind of blend them in. I would be more concerned about it not fitting over the hump and contours in the middle than I would be about the edges. My personal opinion would be to get the extra insulation because I think you could always remove some if you got into a tight spot.

That makes sense Nate, thanks!

Well, I finished today, all done. I did the four doors and put the panels back on. The guy I bought this from said to get as much as you can inside of the door. I put maybe 50% coverage inside of the doors and 100% on the outside of the door. They close with a thud now. If you tap on the outside it feels solid.

A little summary, working with this stuff wasn't bad at all. I had a wall paper roller, utility knife and some tin snips. Most of the time I make my cuts with the knife, my old wall papering days helped figure out some angles etc. The stuff conforms to irregular shapes pretty well and for the most part is easy to work with. I have over 200 12" by 12" squares in the whole truck. The old gray mare gained some weight, LOL! I lost some weight, skin off the end of my fingers.
