Actually I was refering to the bulk of the factory unit. I think those were dealer installed. There are a couple different versions and I think the 71-72 unit was less bulky. I am not sure what year mine is, the crew cab I took it from didn't have a front clip, but it is the more bulky one. You have to eliminate the glovebox insert. They had another cardboard thing to put in there that left barely enough room for the owners manuel. I didn't really ever plan on using it but for $5 I figured it was worth adding to my parts collection of 67-72 stuff.

Hey, I got ya!
No mine was actually taken from a 1967 Fairlane in 1971 and put of the truck by the previuos owner. It is the one that is directly in the middle and hangs under the dash. I plan on installing a factory unit that you are talking about later this winter when I have more time.

What a great truck. I had never seen the "factory" set up on a 67 before. I had assumed it was that huge thing I seein all the other similiar models. Actually any Ford pickup prior to 73 had the A/C put on at the dealer I believe. I'm sure someone that worked at a Ford store will correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah, my dad had a factory A/C unit on a 1969 Ranger pickup and it was the unit that you had talked about that took up the space in the glove compartment. I also had another 1968 truck with Factory A/C that was the same way. It was not a dealer add-on. I think in 1968 Ford started putting on the A/C units that took up space on the glove compartment, any A/C unit prior to 1968 was the "hang-on" unit. Someone correct me if I am wrong........
Yeah, this was definitely added on after the sale... but appears to be a Ford dealer addon. I have a full glovebox, by the way.
How'd we get from jute to A/C, anyone remember?
