Inner firewall cover

Inner firewall cover
I'm no way near it yet but giving thought to using old firewall cover in cab. Thinking I would take the cover and possibly fibreglass the inside. Am I way off or has anyone done similar? I believe the cover is heavy cardboard with jute backing.

my cardboard was all rotted away. I wanted to keep it stock looking so I bought the ABS plastic inner firewall liner. They make them with holes, without holes, all types. Take a look at my gallery to see what the liner looks like. It is very close to stock and it really quiets the cab.

I saw on another site some time ago where a guy bought black pond liner at the landscaping store to make a new one. It is like 60 mils thick, but pretty cheap (like $10 to do the firewall). Glue some insualtion on it, hold it up with the stock pins. It's thick enough to hold shape good enough. Sure beats $150 plus freight shipping for the ABS ones. That's the route I want to take.
