02 X cant program key fob
I have a 02 X they wont enter program mode.
i have tried getting in lock then unlock doors then cycle key 8 times within 10 seconds to enter program mode.
The problem is everytime i cycle the key the doors lock and unlock.
Not sure where to go from here

I just get in and do the key cycle 8 times. After the 8th cycle the locks respond by locking/unlocking. Then I press a key on all the fobs, one at a time.

The mistake I was making was its really more like 7 1/2 cycles, if that makes sense. You leave the key in the on position the 8th time you turn it on. I was turning the key off on the eighth cycle. I don't lock the doors or anything. Just get in, close the door, and go for it.
The other thing, the 10 seconds starts ticking the moment you put the key in the ignition, not when you start cycling. So don't dilly dally when you insert the key.

yes the truck is stock.
from my understanding of the directions the doors are not supposed to cycle until the 8th time the key is turned showing that the truck is in program mode. My problem is that the locks cycle after every time the key is turned. im not sure why they do that. it also has key-less entry on the drivers door is there another way to program a key fob.

Ok. I asked because a custom tuned rig can block the truck from entering the programming mode.
Hmmm....you're getting and closing the door, right? Starting the procedure with the trans in park, not neutral, yes?

yes i get in close the door lock then unlock the doors, and then start the sequence with cycling the key. could there be a problem with my security module. i have also tried disconnecting the battery for 30 min and trying again. for some reason the locks cycle every time the key is turned.
