I purchased 2 new keys for my 2012 F250 SD and had them cut at the dealer. I followed the programming instructions, inserted 1st original key, turned to on position for more than 10 seconds but less than 30, repeated process with 2nd original key. Inserted new key, turned to on position, doors locked then unlocked. New key now starts truck but the buttons do not work. Cannot lock, unlock or remote start truck. What am I missing or forgot to do? Any help would be appreciated.
You did everything right.I just did the exact same thing on my 2014 and the buttons worked. Is it a used key where they put a new metal insert in ? Might be defective.
They were advertised as new keys. I programmed both and both are acting the same. I tried to repeat the process but it did not lock and unlock the doors. Not sure if you are able to do the process twice.

Are they OEM keys or aftermarket ? The aftermarket have a lot of issues. I'd contact the seller.
I thought you have two different procedures to program the key. The procedure you just did programmed the key to the pats system. Now you need to insert your key into the ignition switch and cycle it 8 times in less than 10 seconds. Stop in the run position. The doors should lock and unlock. If so then just push one button on the new keys and they should either lock or unlock depending on button you pushed. After that is done turn ignition off for a few seconds and check your fobs. They should work then.

The 8 time cycle is for the older trucks I think. Mine was completely programmed when I did the 2-existing key cycle. Never had to do the 8 time thing.
He might give it a shot though.
