New key fob question

I bought a new key fob off Ebay and got it to lock/unlock the doors by doing the key cycle 8x thing. I had a locksmith cut the key. But the key won't start the car, yet will lock/unlock. I only have one of the original keys.

Does this mean I need to have a dealer or locksmith hookup a programmer and get it working?

The newer trucks 08 and up have a pats system with chipped keys you will have to get the key programmed for it to start the truck.

Ford also requires 2 keys to do the programming. Get a locksmith that has the capability to cut the keys and program it as well. They are out there.
