ty for the advice on this idea. they do make a glass housing that uses a h4 bulb and retains the sealed beam look. puts out 2wice the light of a sealed beam too. should i just consider something like the h4 conversion?
I personally like my HIDs. But I do have an 06.
I had an 88 Ranger that I used the glass Hella
headlamp units. They had a true metal reflector
and used the H4 lamp. 100% incandescent and
I think that would fit in your current housing. FRSPORT 1140 FR Hella H4 Headlight Conversion Kit RPS13 S13
In the Ranger I did install a set of relays. I had done a little wattage upgrading and
was burning up the headlamp switch and the hi/low switch. Add a set of relays and fuses.
Problem solved.

NOTE : Do you have a link to the page for the kit you just showed?

so it is a worthwhile upgrade it sounds like then. i know h4 are out there as well as hid. so i do have lots options i suppose. seen some with integrated led turns as well
The H4 kit was so much of an up grade it was like night & day
when you compare it to the sealed beam units.
I feel that the key was the metal reflector.
They also had a very good beam pattern with sharp cutoff.
So that your not putting light where it's not needed.
don't worry about the adapter plug, ford used them from the factory to convert the electrical system of that truck to accept the seal beam lights. i have 3 sets of adapters in the garage from parts trucks i have bought and stripped.

so the stock 3pin plug is a adapter for the normal composite? does that mean i can unplug it to put in composite headlights?
