Thanks.
Yeah, I painted the grill and both bumpers with my air-brush in the living room of my apartment. I didn't realize that I would be smelling laquer for the next two months. The bed cover was made by Leer. That Ranger got more complements than any other vehicle I have ever owned. I painted everything after falling in love with the look of the Ranger Splash.
I miss the truck, but my Wife (in the picture) had two kids and everytime the four of us went anywhere, I had to pull my speaker box out from behind my seat and put it in the bed. I traded it in for a '95 T-bird which I kept for two years and then traded it in for my current '97 Explorer.
I have a 98 Explorer Sport that did not come with the RAP Module / RKE option..When you look at the location where the RAP Module is suppose to be, you will find a wiring harness that has several relays plugged into it. When you push the manual rear lock button, you will notice that all locks open and that the relays are being energized .. Because of this , there should be a relatively "easy" way to upgrade to the RAP module ( Part No. F87F-15K602-AA) ..ie.) When you push the remote entry unlock button, it sends the RAP Module code at a frequency that is recieved by the RAP module reciever, which in turn, will activate the relay(s) that unlock the door locks..The only problem is that the existing harness does not have the 48 pin connector that should just allow you to plug the RAP module in , program your remotes and let you start using the Remote Key Entry.. The relatively "easy" upgrade should be as follows:
1) Obtain the wiring diagram for the existing harness and the RAP Module
2) Obtain the RAP Module and the 48 PIN connector
3) Adapt/ re-wire the existing harness to closely match the RAP module OEM optioned harness
or... Go to Circuit City and buy one of those aftermarket RKE systems for $50 to $90 complete with instructions..
As I have already obtained the OEM RAP module and remotes, I'll be making the wiring mods shortly and will re-post my conclusion
