I'm looking for the part numbers of the pipe that goes from header to turbo(and an inexpensive place to buy?) and for the band that connects it to the turbo.
I have a nasty leak that I *think* is coming from the exhaust pipe by the flex section just behind the heat shield. When I put my hand back there I can feel air, and I can't feel any from where the turbo meets the exhaust pipe. For that reason, I'm blaming that.
I recently did the oil cooler replacement so I had hte turbo off. I can only guess that I somehow cracked that flex pipe portion on the exhaust pipe.
Those flex pipes can crack. They are called up pipes and there is both sides. Parts counter will help. Or someone will be along with part numbers. It's a going to be a bear of a job for sure.
I'm new to the 6.0 World, but believe these are all the parts. Not sure if you need all of them. Ebay sells that up-pipe for $154.33 OEM Motorcraft part.
3C3Z 6K854 AA / -------------------------------------------------Up-Pipe
3C3Z 6N640 AA / -------------------------------------------------Up-Pipe to Y-Pipe gasket
F81Z 8287 EA / ---------------------------------------------------Turbo Up Pipe Clamp
The Y-pipe is the one that I believe is leaking. I put my hand over all 3 joints and felt nothing at all, but air is blowing pretty hard from somewhere between the flex pipe and the shield attached to it.
Maybe I'll pull the pipe off and check it first. Because it has that heat shield I can't get a good look at it, so I'm not sure taht taking it off for visual inspection will help.
Once you've been in there a few times, it's a lot easier. The first time was a bear. All the bolts came right off though, the turbo comes out pretty easily too. Although I'm not sure how the y pipe will actually come out, whether it goes up or down, or something else has to move for it to come out.
I'm losing exhaust gasses at such a rate that i have a severe loss of power, under 20mph is really painful as it's like running with no turbo at all. Once it finally kicks in, I still have a problem with high grades.
On the plus side I drove from PA to SC and got 22mpg down, 18mpg back(i really hammered it coming home), hand calculated. Single tank with fuel to spare each time.

I'd also be looking for all associated gaskets.
They do crack at the bellows but before you get to far double check the connector from the y-pipe to the turbo if you had the turbo off it is common to have a leak there, it has to be matched up perfectly the v-band clamp will not pull it tight it only holds it in place. I used a ratchet strap to pull mine together hopefully that's all it is.
That's what I thought it was, but I re-seated that thing 15 times, loosened everything around it, lubed the v-band with assembly lube and got it mated as hopefully perfect as possible. When I run my hand all around that with it running, I can't feel any air at all. I also rebuilt the v-band clamp a few times because I stretched it out by over-tightening it. Really feels like they could have designed that thing better, to easy to over torque and destroy.
Sucks those are more expensive than I thought.

I understand I did not know they were that much, I did read about a few guys welding in new flex joints if your handy with a welder or have a muffler shops you trust.
