When it rains it pours. Found out why the XJ6 lost all its oil.

Must have run over something on the road. I don't remember seeing anything on the road that would have done that, and I know I did not hear anything hit the car, so I don't know what it was, but it took a big chunk out of the front of the oil pan.

Okay here are some pics of the event. I am not going to post all the ones I took, because this is not a Euro car site, and the pics are pretty big even after cropping them. I have over 40 photos, and I was only taking pics the first day as the oil loss problem sort of ruined my day and I was not up to taking pics after that.

One of the many stops down Hwy 1 where we stopped to take pics of the coast. 17 cars in total, (the white Dodge van in the middle was not part of our group, he was there when we arrived) with 24 people in total.

This guy in the blue shirt, owns one of the Boxsters (I believe that blue one he is by) and came down from Canada! Not specifically for this run, but in he was in Washington to buy a car, and then went to Las Vegas to the Barret Jackson auction house, and then on the way back stopped in to do the run with us.

Yes, my car has a decal on its door now, most of the participants put them on, there were a few who refused, like the Z06 owner, and a Porsche Carrera 4 owner.

That small red car in the middle is a '72 Opel GT, and it looks like he just drove it off the showroom floor.

What we all were looking at.

Or maybe we were looking at Bixby Bridge, which incidentally was used in our decal design.

And the last photo I took of the day.

Of the 17 cars that attended, there were 7 Porsche's, including 2 Boxsters, one 996 Cabriolet, one Turbo, and two Carerra's one standard, and one Carrerra 4. There was a late model Z06 that was literally only 2 inches off the ground (why didn't the object hit HIS oil pan?) Two Subaru's one 2013 Golf (that I got to ride in after my Jag's demise) The leader had a BMW M3, and there was a Lotus Elise, that has an additional $35k into the engine, suspension, and brakes, one other Jaguar, a 2008 XK-R, owned and driven by a gentleman who owns 4 Jaguars in total. A '75 XJ-S, and two '89 XJ-S convertibles. There was even a Suzuki crossover, and the above mentioned '72 Opel GT. And then my favorite of all of them a Buick Regal Grand National, that looks stock on the outside, but is about as far away from stock as you can get on the inside. I got to ride in that one to the Hearst Castle visitor center, and that car is wicked fast. I don't think I have ever been in a car that accelerated that fast. He is running 29 pounds of boost, and using methanol injection as well as a laundry list of other mods. I could feel the chassis flex when he jumped on it.

I saw a Buick GN at Sac Raceway one time. The owner had dropped a Chevy 350 into it and was working the gremlins out (ignition and fuel), trying to get the car dialed in. Even with the problems plaguing the engine, that car was ripping off sub 9 seconds runs without much effort.

THAT was something to see, it was just, WOW! So I can understand how your ride was!

I am going to have John mount the axles of the trailer under the springs, that should lower it 4 to 5 inches.

They are awesome cars. I drove one back when they first came out, it was totally stock, still on the dealer lot. I would not have the ***** to swap in a Chevy 350 in a GN. I would however, have no problem making a clone out of a regular Buick Regal, and then powering it with a Chevy 350 as it would be cheaper than trying to find a real one.

The one I saw at Sac Raceway had to have the hood VERY modified in order for the turbo to fit!

Never been to Hearst Castle either, that is one reason I was so bummed the Jag died before we got there. Another reason was the second day was supposed to be the "driving" day with a minimal of stops. That would have been cool to experience, but it will have to wait now.
