I went to drain the HFCM today to bleed off the fuel pressure and found the BRASS OEM plug stripped. I have a replacement on hand and was going to replace it.
Does anyone have any recommendations short of pulling the HFCM from the rail and pulling the plate and drilling the center out of the plug, then using a high end easy-out to remove it?
If I have to go that route, is there a gasket kit for the HFCM? If I have it on the bench, I will pull the pump and filter and clean the housing out.
I have the disconnect tools, might be my best bet to just pull it as a unit.
When I changed the filter in May or June there was quite a bit of junk in the HFCM. I am thinking it might worth the time to pull it apart and clean it. If I can get gaskets I will.
I don't honestly remember what my original drain plug was made of. I do remember it was soft. That hex was starting to round off pretty early on. I just bought a new oem when I heard about the better option. I keep the new oem in the center console as a backup.
So much easier to use the knurled **** style.
Part# 6E7Z-9C082-A. Used to have to buy from International or aftermarket. You can get from dealer now too.
