Another ICP / Surge Question
Guys, I have read and read and read. Don't see where someone had the exact same issue as mine.
Vehicle in question:
2005 Ford 6.0 F350 Super Duty 4x4 130k
A little over a month ago, i had a surge at idle. I installed the blue sping kit in the FPR, changed fuel filters, blew out air filter, to no avail. Then, I cleaned the ICP connector and problem went away. So I figured it was the ICP connector.
Last Friday eve, taking my son to a school function, Engine light came on and surging came back. Threw codes 2286 and 2287 on the scan gauge. ICP reading at idle, warm is typically around 500. After the engine light came on, it was steady at 875 at idle warm, would not go below that, and was steadily reading 875. That was wierd to me because nomally there is a fluxuation, 495 - 510. Cleared codes, drove home. Truck drive's fine when giving it some throttle, just surging at idle at this point.
Next morning, cleaned ICP connector, again, removed battery cables for a few seconds to clear any bad memories a control module may have developed, and started the truck. The ICP reading started at about 750 and slowly worked it's way down to 550. I had the wife set in the truck monitoring the ICP reading while I performed the wiggle test, which she saw no fluxuations when "wiggling" the ICP connector. Finally, the truck, when warmed up, settled at 550 ICP reading, warm at idle. Same thing this morning, and the occasional surging. I know ICP of 550 isn't that extreme, but it isn't normal either, especially after throwing the codes (which haven't come back after resetting).
Question is, has anyone seen this before? And, any reccomendations as what the root cause is, ICP, IPR?
I have high delta's on my oil cooler, planning on taking the truck down here in a couple weeks to replace that and EGR cooler. IPR could easily be changed at that point, however, this truck is starting to $300 me to death. Looking for input, and as always, thanks in advance.

Your Going to Be Sitting On side of the road over a Bad ICP Sensor for $$120.00 and if the Harness is to bad then get one of those Too!!
You shouldn't need to Keep Clweaning it Sounds Blown Threw with "OIL"
You Need to Check ICP VOLTS at KOEO this will Specific Test for blown out Sensor
ICP Voltage (Volts)
TXD: 07E02216AD
RXF: 0462451606AD
RXD: 3010
MTH: 004827100000
NAM: ICV
All the Specs should be in here Below

Thanks for the feedback. For clarification, no oil in the ICP connector, not blown through. Cleaning the connector just seemed to clear things up the first time.
Sounds like ICP it is. I'll replace the connector as well, luckily both easy to get too.
Thanks for the scangauge program, will get that input first thing in the morning.
Coming home from work, had no surging, but, once at temp, first stop light at idle, was reading 570 ICP, second stop light, idled at 610. So not consistent.
Thanks for the feedback. I am stuck in Austin traffic, alot. I know that is not good for the truck. Try to open it up when I can.
One more question, been monitoring the ECT and EOT more than anything, and just scanning through the ICP / IPR readings. Since Friday, got the gauge watching ICP, is it normal for the ICP to run higher than normal until the truck warms up. Is it normal to start out, cool morn, 70 degrees out, at 700 - 800, then plain out at 580 when you reach operating temp?

Yes Post ICPV at KOEO Befor you Buy Anything
Or you Must See the Correct Voltage per my thread Pay Specific Attention to M-Chane Post About ICPV

That's Normal Open/Closed Loop thing
Some of your Sensor values wont be Taken till 185*EOT for just like this HPO Things

Ok, good to know on the 185 EOT.
Here are some numbers from this mornings trip. All number at idle, no surging this morning.
First Stop
577 ICP
20.4 IPR
0.77 ICV
180 EOT
Second Stop
608 ICP
21.4 IPR
0.72 ICV
180 EOT
Third Stop
598 ICP
21.1 IPR
0.84 ICV
197 EOT
All appear to be in the ball park. I'll get the ICV with Key on Engine off.
