Yes, i understand. But the drive shaft still rotates? Cuz im sure mine does. Cuz the zerk is always in a diff spot.

In 2 hi, the transfer case is not hooked to the front shaft. But if something in your frontend is broke, it may still be spinning. And broken parts can cause noise.

Pull the hubs, the dark part. One Phillips screw. Spring behind them too. Duct tape up the hub to keep dirt out and drive it to work for a day. Betting your noise goes away

I just shifted to neutral, it rolled, then down to HLand up to Hi2, driveshaft moves 5/8"

I would get em from Napa or such, warranty is cake. Bout the same price, in the mudwest any way.
