Finally got a AE scan tool.
Did the perdels...I'm running the dark blue CPS...the notable cylinders were numbers 1, 3 and 8
#1 could hang around as high as 0.9%;
#3 could hand around 3%
#8 could hang around 5-6%
I'm also getting a "p1274 cyl#4 high to low side open" code
And a new discovery since winter came around...truck won't start if it's...lets say 40F or below...very hard start in the 40s low 50s. Starts fine with a block heater plugged in for an hour...or if I ran it w/in the last day (not sure if this is the case with freezing temps though). It's a california truck so the previous owner prob never noticed this problem.
Injector buzz test sounded good to me...with #3 a little fainter sounding than the rest.
Not sure if I need some injector work. Truck has 160k on it. Also I did one of the glow plug tests on AE and I didn't get any codes on it...so apparently they tested out fine...although I know the CA trucks have a different setup.
I would like to do a compression test on it and just bought a gauge and adapter for it. I would like to do that before I dump much more money into it.
What do you think?
I did a compression test today. The entire R bank checked out good...380-430. The entire L bank was low...the highest I got was cyl #1 at 375psi. cylinder 3 I got 345. #5 and #7 were 270psi...and #5 jumped to 375 after a tablespoon of oil...but #7 only went to 290.
So I'm hoping I did something wrong, rather than having to replace the engine.
