I did the cab swap by myself using an engine hoist. My cab was an A/C cab so it had the big cutout in the firewall allowing me to use the front cab mounts as lift points. For the rear lift points I used the seat belt attach points.
I just did a cab swap where I put a 1977 f100 2wd auto onto a 78 4x4 4 speed frame.
The 1977 was from Alabama and did not have a title soi may or may not have drilled the rivets out on the 77 then cut into the door of the 78 and then pinched the rivets off. Then snapped 78 vin onto the door if the 77 with a little bit of jb weld. I'm not saying that's what I did though.
For the swap I used a tractor and put a heavy ratchet strap through the windows.
If you have any legal concerns for transferring a cab in your state, you can always check at your local dmv or call the state capital and they will answer any questions you might have. The laws do vary quite a bit from one state to another. Here in PA I have heard you have to get a reconstructed title for so much as just changing the color of you vehicle, but I don't really know on that. I was also told that in Pa If you own a truck that you need to change a cab on, that as long as you own the truck that in need of new cab and own the truck that has the donor cab and both trucks are the same year you do not need to get a reconstructed title. Again I don't really know as I never really looked into it. These examples are what I told by someone else.
