I have the Bullydog Triple Dog one but it seems it wasn't the best choice. The guy down the street is selling a Edge Evolution Programmer. Any opinions on it?
What is your goal for the truck? Program for each trip? Do you need to change tunes on-the-fly? Are you planning on modifying the truck? Do you tow? Daily driver? Any current mods?
As soon as you give into the peer pressure of people on the internet forums telling you that both of them are garbage and will destroy your transmission and ruin your engine, give me a shout. If the price is right I'll buy both of them from you since I know better.

Well, just replaced the motor because my pistons cracked. Seems like more people that physically see the damage say it's because the current Bullydog thing just added fuel and didn't change the timing.
The motor is stock. I have a 4" exhaust, KN cold air intake, FRX kit and RiffRaff's turbo wheel installed. That's it for mods. I have in the past just used the higher tunes for just plain driving and then drop down to the tow mode when I tow. I don't play games when I tow either. My trailer is a 40' 5th wheel and it's not a flimsy aluminum one either. I usually carry 100 gallons of fuel in it along with 4 sleds at approx 500 pounds each plus all of the gear, tools, furnace and generator. It was a daily until the motor failed. I then bought a bike and a little beater to use as the commuter car. The truck is now just going to be used as a hunting rig and get to the playground rig.
I won't go so far as to Cleatus is saying...however, stick with a TS chip from places like PHP, GearHead, Beans, BTS, etc. or a DP Tuner. You will have much better luck, as the tunes will be more (or completely) customized to YOUR truck's configuration, versus a one-size-fits-all program like you're getting with the BullyDog and Edge systems. If they're a sponsor of the 7.3L forum area...you're good to go.
you def. would be better off with a ts style chip like said above. your truck is just going to behave better with them period, atleast from my experience, there really is no comparison between the two types.

Which is nothing but a complete falsehood spewed by people who have never seen the tuning. I don't care WHO does their own tuning with WHAT brand of software - until they've seen others' stuff, believe nothing.
Everybody makes such a HUGE deal about this whole "timing" thing. If it's not excessive, your engine will be just fine as long as you don't melt it down due to high combustion temperatures....and "custom" brand x can't physically reduce heat over "generic" brand y when the driver's foot is the limiting factor.

I bought a PCM out of an '03 Excursion from a wrecking yard and it had a certain vendor's TS Performance chip installed. Guess what. The mapping in the calibrations was EXACTLY THE SAME as the "custom" tuning I had previously purchased for my SuperDuty years ago save for the hex code (TNAA5N7 vs. VRAA6S3). Sounds awful generic to me for being a "custom tune". Getting more explicit about it wouldn't be nice.....
Putting calibrations designed for a stock truck on a chip is basically a cut-and-paste deal. How "custom" can a person get when stock injectors are involved?
Well now....Cody is back. I missed you, since I consider you the voice of reason in all things tuning.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm far from knowing it all.
However, I do have a computer with a crap load of miscellaneous tuning that I've purchased/collected in the last five-and-a-half years that SHOWS me what is going on.....
...and I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
I don't "pick favorites" when it comes to tuning. There's either truth or misinformation. I prefer to be a non-biased third party.
We could use journalists like Cody. Not picking favorites, just truth and no misinformation. And yes, I for one, wondered where you were. Glad your back.
