I did look at those aux gears before, since i had a truck with some before.. but the cost on it are just too high..
99% of my driving is without any trailer, therefore a swap makes sense to me. dropping the RPM will also help on fuel. Thanks to Bill, i might do the swap soon. I will however capture it in pictures and do a write up on it.
(that is after i found directions on how to)

Good luck, man! I'll be looking for that write-up, maybe it'll put me over the edge to swap gears. You must do more driving than me, cause I wouldn't swap to 3.55 gears if it saved 3 mpg. I own 2 trucks with them and have drove a couple with the 4.10 gears and its a huge difference.

Is your truck a 2wd?

That sounds correct to me. I run that rpm at 65-70 with 35s. If I am running 75 I get better mileage, but I drive slow so that doesn't help me and I think its typically lugging.

My last tank running 65-70 mph with my 4.10s I got 16.23mpg!!! I was stoked usually get mid 15s but that's running 60-65 mph so your theory could be onto something lol

IDK if its true, but Madvan Bill used to say about the automatic transmissions that you get better fuel mileage if you stay out of overdrive until you hit 55 mph with 3.55 gears. thats about 2100-2200 rpm i think.

The best tank I ever got was 16 doing what I posted above. That was the same as what I got with 265s. Outside of that I typically get 12-13 or so. I know if I ever take a long trip I am getting a transfer tank and gravity feed that sucker. I did the fast fuel mod on my front tank and it still sucks with the flatbed lol. Stopping every couple hours for fuel and spending 20 minutes would get old quick.
