Anytime I know my truck will be idling for more than 15 to 20 minutes I will engage the hi-idle. EGR system doesn't like idling. Not saying it will hurt it but better safe than sorry. No time limit. Turn it off when the idle period is over. Only drawback is extra fuel burned. I used the far right switch. Lowest amperage. It doesn't take much. JMHO.
In an 07 it's easy to do and very handy for warm-ups.
It's also good to help keep the carbon/soot buildup
down because your getting a higher temp in the engine.
The 6.0 does not do well if it spends a lot of time idling.
So if you are going to sit and idle the high idle is the ticket
to keeping the engine happier.
Ok, 6.0 doesn't like idling (EGR); 15-20 minutes use high idle; No time period; far right switch is a good choice; the high idle helps to keep the carbon/soot down... Thanks for this information gentlemen... I was looking at my truck manual today about my upfitters and wires; to say the least it is confusing.. I guess at this point, I will look-up some YouTube videos on how to install the high idle wire with an upfitter...
For a good place to find a how to
just look in the tech folder at the top
of the Forum index.
Also you have to pick if you what to use the
PTO or the BCP.
The BCP is what I use and if I need more power for some device
that uses power it will boost the idle.
Here is a good bit of info over at The Diesel Stop dot COM
They go into how the systems differ. Howto: 05-06 High Idle (AIC/SEIC/BCP) - Diesel Forum - TheDieselStop.com
There is a link from that forum to this page and it's got some good photos https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...bb_pdf/160.pdf
If you have any questions just ask.

NOTE : I just looked and am not sure how the 07 differed or it is does.
Thanks for the redirection... As a new user, I often forget the resources provided to me... After reading the high idle section, I was a second time go at that station... BCP on Aux 4 is what I now have connected.. There is about a 2-3 second delay then she kicks on to about 1200 rpms...
