Name That Doohickey!

Hey guys. When I bought my IDI, I noticed it has a couple switches on it. I found where one leads to and its this:

If you cant read it, it says vibration and impact sensor. I haven't a clue what it does!

My guess would be part of an aftermarket alarm.

Seems kinda cheap looking for an alarm lol. But you could be right!

The previous owner used the truck to tow his houseboat. Could it be something fancy to beep at him if something goes wrong with the boat?

My guess is that is off an older style car audio alarm. They type that would get set off by thunder or kids shaking cars and running.

I had a 95 gas rig which had a fuel pump shut-off in case of an accident. It was located behind the kick panel in front of the passenger door. It is possible they also put these on diesel rigs.

The IDI diesels don't have an electric fuel pump from the factory, so no rollover switch. Also, Ford doesn't label their modules like that. They usually just have a paper label on them with the part number.
That module should have a pair of wires that go out to a loudspeaker under the hood.

It's just one part of an aftermarket alarm system. The main module would have inputs for motion sensor, hood open switch, etc.
