So, I'm sitting here eating dinner when I hear a horn honking, I think nah, not mine, look out and see it is mine. I grab the fob and kill the alarm. 30 seconds later it does it again. Now I'm embarrassed and worried that somethings wrong. When I go to check it out I don't see any reason for it to have done that, until I notice this dark spot on the headliner, a damn moth! The sensor in the cab must have been picking up on this moth flying around. Anyway, I set the alarm to perimeter only, cause I wasn't successful at getting it out. I didn't realize how sensitive the system was, now it has me wondering how little it takes to set it it off, if it will go off from a cars headlights, or even just the shadow of something.
Haha. You’re not the first person and you won’t be the last to have a moth set off your alarm. I’ve read some hilarious write ups about this exact situation.
It has to detect motion for it to set off. You’ll be fine with lights etc. It’s always a damn insect that gets ya.
Keep in mind that setting off the alarm several times in a row is an old car thief trick. They set off your alarm and hide, then keep repeating that until you don't set the alarm again. But that doesn't seem to have been your scenario. I wish I could just get the alarm to default to perimeter when I have my dawg in the truck.
I got that pesky moth out this morning. How much movement or vibration does it take while in perimeter only to set the alarm off? I haven't had any of the dumb ricer cars that pass by set it off.
It would seem that a dog moving around in the bed or cab might be able to.
Oh yeah, my dog sets off the alarm every time I forget to change it to Perimeter Only. I only notice it when I check my Ford Pass app and it tells me how many times the alarm has gone off. I'm not sure how many people have flipped off my truck in a parking lot.
I have been wondering if some temporary caps over the four sensors would disable them without any issues. When we travel with our dog it is real easy to forget to set them to exterior only.

does it also have the shock sensor? like if someone hits it it goes off? I have a lariat ultimate on order and didn't see an option for the alarm. I would like to have this.

I'm not sure what it takes to set it off, if its glass breakage or shock sensor but it is a standard feature. I've considered taking it somewhere away from any homes and seeing what it takes to set it off.
I could be wrong but I think one of the doors has to be opened for the perimeter alarm to go off and then the interior sensors would also detect movement if for some reason the door didn't set it off.
It has motion sensors, if you rock, jump up in the box, it can set these off. Dogs, even very small will set off the interior motion. It should be on a Lariat and up, security group below must be added. Depends on the year and options as some options include advanced security with it.
