Got a response from the wife of the owner of the '85 F350 dually in Auberry. I asked if it had AC and cruise control, as well as how many miles were on it, and what work it needed. She told me it does not have cruise control, but does have AC although they have never used it. It shows 10k on the odometer, and her husband thinks it is 210k and the only thing it needs is a tire, as it was bumped off the rim when her husband last moved it. It is on a non-op, so that is good, makes it cheaper to get registered in my name I told her that I would be using it in a new business I would be starting up in a week or two. One other thing I like about this one is it already has the gooseneck hitch in the bed should I decide to buy a 5th wheel trailer. Which a friend of a friend just happens to be selling in San Luis Obispo. (Pismo anyone? LOL) I have not seen it, and by their description it is very old, so I may not get it, but it is super cheap.

You will need an adapter to use the gooseneck hitch with a typical RV fifth wheel pin.
Really? I thought the gooseneck hitch was what was needed to connect a 5th wheel. Learn something new everyday I guess. If it is still available whenever my check gets here, I'll go up and take a look at it and see exactly what it has.
I forgot the friend of a friend is selling her 5th wheel trailer, and the truck to tow it together, and will not sell them separately. So that idea is out. The truck she has is a 89 F350 with the 460 gas engine. That thing would get worse gas mileage than the Bronco even without towing a 5th wheel. I did see a decent 5th wheel on eBay in Colorado that I may get if it is still available, however, like the crew cab dually, it is more than I need. My original plan was to buy a small trailer the Bronco could to to Pismo, or Hollister, places like that. maybe a gtg or two. Don't really need a 5th wheel since it is only me. Same with a crew cab dually. It is much more than I need.

Noo. Big difference between the two. Goosenecks are common with cattle/horse trailers and attach to a ball inside bed of truck. where a fifth wheel is what big rigs have. Mine is a 24k which I store in garage and cover the rails (mounted to frame) with some plywood
I had them backwards. Was thinking the gooseneck was the mini version of the big rig hitches. Well, it makes sense, judging by the photos, the truck is sitting in the north forty or something. Guess he used it as a ranch truck. Since I don't really need a 5th wheel trailer, and the truck in question has a under bumper frame mounted hitch I can always buy a small travel travel I originally intended to get and tow it with that. The car trailer would hook to that as well. Just need to buy a 2' ball, and mount. much cheaper than a 5th wheel hitch.
Already been looking on eBay for a turbo and intercooler kit for it.

if u want to go go check out hyper max they make a a trubo and intor coller kit for the idi
Do they sell their kits for under $500? I see quite a few universal kits and most of them are under $500. Of course they say for professional installation only as they come with no instructions. LOL

Yeah, I am torturing myself again by looking at Craigslist. Found a '88 Thunderbird Turbo coupe with a trash body but good engine/trans for $600, then, found an '89 2.3 Ranger with 5 speed for $1,550. Perfect for a sleeper Ranger. Even has stock wheels with hubcaps. Just need to swap engine/trans, and go. However, I am still waiting on my last settlement check in order to put any of these plans in motion...
