Codes ....
Thai may sound trivial to a lot of you but if I don't ask how will I ever know.
Thanks for being patient and explaining.
You need a scan tool or similar scanner to retreive codes. There are several systems that have codes on your vehicle and the only scanner that will read them ALL is the one at your local ford stealer. There are several aftermarket companies that offer scanners that will read some of the codes (mostly engine), however for the rest of the codes the ford tool is it. Most scanners will give a generic description of what the code means, or at least the system the malfunction is in. There are books and web sites that list the codes. Your ford service manuals will give you the best description and also diagnosis test to help in finding the exact problem. Remember that the codes are a guide and will give you an idea of what the problem might be but rarely point out the exact component that has failed.
Good Luck, R.
