Good morning...we had several flash floods out here, but we really need that rain! Hope you all are doing fine.

Sean,
Me-thinks some carpenter is just a little-too-proud of his handiwork. Sure, there's a lot on nice wood in there, but it's not practical in the least. Probably leaks like a sieve in the rain while moving, and has to be grossly too-heavy for what it is. Looks a bit like Andy Gump's finest.

Justin,
I'll bet that bumper flange has gussets on its gussets now!

Tim,
According to reports, gully-washers are in store for you for the next few days. A bit of that moisture is even reaching us way out here in western L.A. County. Neighbor kid's birthday party yesterday saw a few sprinkles mid-afternoon. I have my trailer's awning out to work under, and I went out at midnight and "canted" it in case we had some rain overnight. We didn't, but at least I was ready.

Found something interesting on YouTube about a camshaft-less engine:

Hmmm...
"Make a good educated offer. No rust is hard to find. Shes not perfect but a very solid truck worth a lot."

Not sure I'm 'educated 'nuff'.

I'll just drool over this one. 1969 Ford F250

That '69 is beautiful. I think he's a little too proud of it, but he'll probably get what he's asking. I'll bet you could have the '73 for about half that.

Gotta agree Steve!

Delta cancelled my flight until 9pm. I'm going on a rental car road trip!

Too bad they don't rent these.

This Day In History

Thirty-one years ago, in 1982, actor Vic Morrow was killed at Indian Dunes in Castaic while filming the movie Twilight Zone. He was decapitated by a crashing helicopter. Two child actors were also killed. He was 53.

Where did the time go?

Sorry, Sean, I know you're waiting on an airplane....

Got a transfer out to Ventura from the Valley yesterday. Got here and the ambulance wouldnt start when it came time to leave. Stranded in my hometown.

Appeared to be the starter. Starter solenoid was working, but the starter was not. So it was towed back to station by a sling tow, so he had to drop the driveshaft. When he went to reconnect it, the drive shaft sparked

I'm thinking that a power wire for the starter had shorted in the drive shaft.

Also had a fuel leak near the aft tank, so the tow truck guy ran quickly when it sparked.

Trey,

I'm reminded of a service bulletin that was out on the 5R110 about the pump getting welded due to a loss of ground strapping, meaning the starter motor got its ground through the trans and drive shaft.

I'd have the service guys look at the ground side of the current flow, and maybe not-so-much the positive.

Not as exciting as the Eastern Sierras on 395, but worth a drive.

Inside the museum.
