I'm going through my list to see what might be causing my trucks issues and I was looking at the Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure on AE and at idle it is at 14 psi while exhaust back pressure psi is about 14.5. When drive the truck around, the value for the MAP runs anywhere between 1 and 4 psi below the exhaust back pressure.
The MAP needs to be very close to the EBP with KOEO, but EBP will always be higher than MAP with the engine running. EBP drives the boost, and MAP is boost... so MAP has to be lower because of efficiency losses.
Can you direct me how to diagnose the proper operation of the IPR via AE?
Well, you can watch what the PCM is commanding.......
There isn't anything you can "see" about proper IPR operation with a scan tool. You can see what the PCM is commanding the regulator to do in response to what actual vs. desired injection pressure is and that's about it. Whether the pressure regulator is actually doing anything in response to that command is another story.
