I can't figure out how to look for the PMR location I have looked on the internet and found out what they look like and which one is which but I have not found out where they are located...some more help from the brotherhood would be appreciated...I ain't the most truck savvy person like all y'all are.
You can find the number on the block bring it back to us and well tell you what you have. But I personally would look for myself. There's a peep hole by the oil filter, square nut just above the oil pan if I recall right. There's some pictures floating around here of it.
If the number is still on the valve cover that's another way to tell. I don't have that option. What year is your truck? I think you said 2003 in another thread and that means PMRs unless someone else swapped motors or did the rods. That's why it's best to look. 99-2000 most likely forged. 2001 hit and miss 2002-2003 most likely PMRs.
EDIT: you may need to spin the engine over by hand until you get the bottom of the rod lined up just right with that tiny window you have to look into your trucks bottom end.
I haven't had a chance to look its pissing rain and no garage. I have a 2003 Lariat F250 7.3L fx4. so that sounds to me from all y'all that it has PMR's
thanks for the help fella's, everyone was right this is a great site for intel and help the brotherhood are knowledgeable. I liked that video you posted a/ox4. and I have searched the web a lot last few days about pmr's and I have read (just read leave it for what that's worth) that some pmr's are running over 400 HP's and no problems and that it's all about the tuning of the truck.
Yes PMRs are Normally good for 400-450 hp. I would limit it to 400 for longevity. Then again with PMRs you really can't tell what thell hold until its too late. And yes a lot of them staying together has to do with tuning. There's a brother here running 250/200s with PMRs
