Well mine failed today @ 38,000 miles. The dealer claims that it is not covered under warranty. $50,000 truck. First the cats went bad, then the intercooler issue, then the tail gate strut, and now this. You would think that Ford would step up and cover this since it is a known safety issue. I guess I may just save my $600 and trade it in on a Chevy. Really sucks cause I love this truck but I will not support a company that will not stand behind it's products. Look at Toyota with their frame issues. They stood behind every one.

Welcome to the forum, Michael Stouffer. I'm Crystal, the Ford Service rep here; I'd like to research some options to help. Since you're a new member, you won't have PM access yet, but you can send an email to custserv@ford.com with your details and I'll look into this further. In your message, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. Also, please write "To Crystal" in the subject line so I can find your email; let me know when you send it and I'll go check. If you'd prefer, you can contact my colleagues at the Customer Relationship Center; they can offer the same help that I do. Their number is 1-800-392-3673.
I noticed this issue before, but always credited it to parking on an incline, nose up. I have since moved and parking on a flat driveway, the truck did it to me again. I was in for regular service this past weekend and mentioned the problem to the service department, as well as mentioning I found this thread. I was told they "had not received anything directly from Ford about the pump and couldn't do much about it." They would check pads and calipers and let me know if there were any problems. Of course there were none. I am at 65,000 miles and have the Extended Ford Warranty, so I am not going to fix it myself. I told my salesman I would let him know next time it happened. Sure enough the following day(yesterday) it happened, so he got an email this morning. Salesman has always treated me well and I got a quick response from them. I was not able to leave the truck with them to attempt to replicate it this weekend, but that is the next course of action I guess. Hopefully when I get the truck back to them, they can replicate the problem.
Sure would be nice for Ford at least alert their dealers this is an ongoing issue.

It sounds like your dealership is working hard on getting this resolved for you, F150'94. Come back and tell us when you plan on heading back in for diagnosis. What's your truck's model year?

Excellent news, Michael; I'm glad things are headed in the right direction! Let me know how the repair goes and if you need any additional help.

I'm not sure how "hard" they are working on it as I told the service department twice and they did little to diagnose the problem the first time around. Only the salesman as acknowledge that I even have an issue.
When I was there this weekend, my salesman and I worked out that I needed to schedule a visit for a completely separate issue. He is aware of the brake issue and has worked to resolve any issues in the past, so I expect him to get with service to fix the brakes at the same time.
I just actually replaced another one of these pumps last week. It appears the replacement pumps have been updated. In the first photo up top, I have the two pumps side by side. It's pretty obvious what the difference is between the two. In the second photo of the replacement pump up close, you can see the diaphragm portion of the pump is now made of plastic, which doesn't corrode the way aluminum will when exposed to the elements, as you can clearly see in the third photo, causing its eventual failure.
Well, I took my truck to the dealer this weekend, for both issues. The service writer, different one than I had last week, was much more helpful and showed more concern for the problem than before. I left my truck with them, so they can hopefully recreate the problem. Salesman gave me a decent car off the lot too, 2014 Fusion Titanium, so I didn't have to drive one from the service department, generally a baseline Focus.

We will see what happens from here.
I'm glad things are looking up, F150'94! Any news from your dealership today?

I have not heard anything from them yet and I am not expecting anything. The other issue I took it in for, protective under body and frame re-coating, was likely to take two days applying the two coats, so they may not get to the brake issue to tomorrow or Wednesday.
Well, I heard from the dealer today about 10am. They tried yesterday to get the truck to not work and the tech found nothing wrong. Tech went out again this morning and said Truck has no brakes, something is wrong here...Vacuum pump is on order, from another dealer, pending the ESP approval, which I was told should not be a problem. My only concern now is the $100 deductible that I didn't realize I had to pay as part of the plan, but that is better than the $800 the service writer told me it would have been without ESP.
Long story short, dealer was able to recreate it and it is getting fixed. I get my truck back Saturday!
