Hello everyone, newbie onto this site however past and present owner of Ford products.
Currently have a 2012 Ford F150 FX4 eco-boost truck that I love. However as I am posting under this thread I have a major problem which like others are experiencing.
I am currently on my third vacuum brake pump assembly within a matter of 10 months and 14,000 km's. However why can't Ford answer why this is happening? What can Ford do or I do to prevent this from happening. Again and Again. Ford Canada technicians can't answer, called Ford Canada Customer service and they can't.
So my question and I hope a Ford representative chimes in on this matter and answer me...Who is liable if I crash my truck because of a 4th faulty brake pump? That almost happened to me when I was driving towards Florida at 70 mph and I get no brake response at all. Pumping gets me nothing...I have to utilize my e-brake to help me stop and I get manual brakes back. Luckily I didn't kill anyone, nor did I cause an accident.
I don't wish this ever to happen on someone, but I have serious safety concerns with this part. I have filed with Transport Canada, and assisting them in this matter.
However damage occurs to my Ford truck, and I have to pay out of pocket for repairs and labour. Yes Ford Canada has agreed to pay part of brake jobs (discs and pads) I still have to pay money for this 3rd defective part. I tried calling Customer relations for Ford Canada and was told that a decision of assisting financially has been made and that is final. I asked for someone above - VP or even a Manager or Supervisor however to be told by this representative the decision is final. It takes me a significant amount of effort to obtain the name Eric Trepanier, however I can only write to him.
If Ford Canada is monitoring this message, I would really appreciate a call or the ability to speak with Eric or someone higher than him.

Hello Kwasi,
I guess since I havent reached 5 posts I can't do PM messages. I will try and get to that status. If you happen to have the ability to PM me that might work? Otherwise I will have to figure something out.

Hello FordServiceCA,
I am guessing I have to wait 10 days prior to being able to PM you a message. Can you send me an e-mail instead so that I can communicate with you? bigpoppapump_5@hotmail.com
Well, I replaced this part today, and it was pretty painless. Took me about forty minutes, and I work very slowly. Annoying that the dealership was saying it's a 1.5h labour charge. I know that's all based on a "book charge" and they can't change it, still, seems impossible.
What's interesting is that the fuse was blown, so that pump wasn't doing anything. It must not really be needed once the engine is warm, because I didn't think the brakes felt bad, other than for the first thirty seconds after startup.
For anyone considering doing this themselves, I say go for it, very easy using the instructions in that fordtechmakuloco youtube video.
I paid $255 for the Pump, and $10 for the fuse.
Mine was replaced and then I installed a catch can into the PCV system and it now catches all the moisture and sludge that was getting to the vacuum pumps causing them to fail.
Maybe call a few other dealers. I got mine for $255 Canadian here in Calgary, and at least two dealers were selling them for that price. I don't have any special hookup for pricing or anything.
Or go in and chat with the parts guy some day face to face. They have some ability to change the discounts in their system.
Might try ebay. There are Ford dealers on there that sell cheaper like a supplier discount price
