I know that a faulty one will cause poor fuel milage but will it cause a little bit harder start after sitting. My remote start used to start it all the time now it is like it just a little short of starting it. I think that the sensor finally gave up. Tube and sensor is clean and nothing was put in it too far.
Also anyone have a good link to where I can get one cheaper?
It is just wierd this is happening right after the cleaning. I used carb cleaner in the sensor and brake cleaner in the tube. I noticed that it still looked crappy inside the sensor. For all I know it has 174k on it.
The EBP is a bit of a mystery. There is almost no documentation on how involved it is with the engine's performance, yet plenty of third-party documentation and anecdotal evidence referring to improved fuel economy. I know there is at least one tuning function with throttle that uses the EBP, and it certainly effects shifting.
Remember, this is not an ebay 7.3L. You can try too hard to save money on a sensor, and many have been hosed by their efforts. This is a good deal here [LINK]
From what I have read about the dislike on ebay EBP sensors. The problem lay with people buying the wrong the part and not having the proper screw threading. Could be something else though.
What I can tell you on my end is that I bought the one I linked to and it works perfect. My old original one was FUBAR.
I just ordered one from Clay, he is the best priced for a OEM unit.
I lost 1 MPG after cleaning mine and I am hoping the new one will get it back. I am thinking of making the camping trip up with the old one just to be certain I am losing the 1MPG and then change out the sensor while camping and check my mileage on the way back with the new one.
If no change and my old sensor is alright we could work something out.
I can say that the best I've ever done is 15 mpg. And that was all highway in the metro area. After changing mine last week ($78 from tousley) and a 500+ mile trip through the high country I got 18 mpg and much better shifts. If you think yours is bad you should replace it. Can't say it will help with cold starts though. Have you checked you glow plug system?
You are talking about the sensor in the front right? I thought if it wasn't working (or hooked up) you get crappy mileage?
Yes, the EBPV sensor.
And yeah, my MPG did suffer a tad. Probably about 1MPG if I had to guess, but because my MPG's were always all over the place anyway, it was difficult to say with 100% certainty that it was 1MPG, and not a tad more or a tad less.
