My Exc. has lost power and mpg. After reading many posts, I have just ordered a new EBP sensor hoping to cure the problem. Today I disconnected the sensor and drove around. No difference except that the service engine light came on. I connected the sensor and shortly after driving the light went off. Does this mean that the sensor is not the problem and that the sensor is working???? Thanks
i changed mine back in november, i changed the tube(it was in 2 pieces) and the sensor. i also cleaned as mentioned above the holes on the bracket for the sensor and the exhaust. i could not tell a difference in the way that it drives, and not really in my mpgs, but the wastegate is working for sure now as to before it was not. hope this helps you.
Just took mine apart too. The tube was pretty gummed up but not completely plugged so I cleaned it as per the "guzzle" method with weed eater cord and brake cleaner and got it squeaky clean and open. The sensor was OK...no gunk. Now waiting for my dieselsite boots to replace my oily stock ford intake boots.
If you have a way to monitor your engine, you can see if the EBPS is working or not. I watch my back pressure with my ScanGauge. At idle, it sits around 14-15psi, and at WOT, it gets up in the 40-50psi range.
