A full harness can be a daunting task that inspires procrastination. haha.

I've been looking at the EZ Wire kit for my CrewCab.

I was mainly just waiting until I did the motor since this kit requires the 3G alternator swap and so I can set it up for HEI ignition. I only wanted to do it once.

Hope you're using a quality HEI setup and not one of the cheap ones, have had a few buddies get the less than $100 Ebay specials and they're junk. Pins shear, adapters fall apart and one of them had the guts fall to pieces inside of it.

I was actually looking into this setup, it seems to be a simple, less bulky alternative. And I'll only be out the price of the coil and HEI module. I've seen at least one member here running it with success.

That's not too bad then. You can wire ANY ignition system into ANY vehicle, a Duraspark distributor makes this pretty easy and it's one of the best designs ever made, MSD modeled their distributor after it. The HEI Ignition Control Module is a decent little unit, there are multiple to choose from concerning Rev Limits how the ignition acts, it's also quite compact. I do suggest that you find/make something to protect the module from the elements as it will no longer be housed inside the distributor, maybe even mount it inside the cab, somewhere Dry and Cool would be ideal.

Good call, I hadn't thought about a waterproof housing, I knew it needed a heat sink for it. I have plans to set up a waterproof relay box to house the relays for the offroad lights I want to run. I'll just mount it in there for easy access.

I used the ez wire in my truck. The quality was great but I think for the extra money I'd go with a complete plug and play harness. I never got my gauges to work. Admittedly I'm not the best at wiring but I'm not a complete idiot either!

Today I yanked it out of the shop and degreased the engine bay so I can paint it tomorrow since we've hit an unseasonably warm patch of weather. Trying to make the best use of it while I wait for my engine.

Geez, I hope you're putting a new Tie Rod on the truck. What happened?

It's been that way since I bought the truck, a recovery gone wrong is all I can figure. I'll put a new tie rod on it before it hits the road again.

Shot the firewall with some low gloss engine enamel today. Look nice and clean now. I'll spray the frame too once I do some welding on it.

If anybody has any pics of factory V8 engine mounts on a 77-79 F-250 chassis it would be appreciated, because I'm working with this crap where they just hacked the 460 in.

Finally got the call that my 460 is done at the machine shop. Unfortunately have to wait until Friday to go get it.

Did you have them install new Cam Bearings?

What all did you have them do? Chamfering holes, chasing threads, bore size, line bore the mains, deck the block, resize the rod ends, assemble the bottom end, blueprint an oil pump, balance the rotating assembly? Did you have them do your heads also?

Yeah they did the block and heads both, it was bored, balanced, and decked, and I had hardened valve seats put in my D0VE heads. Also got ARP rod bolts, a comp cam, and new flat top Pistons. There was a lot more than that but all I remember off the top of my head.

Picked up my engine today, and man am I ever ready to put this beast together.

Almost all of the parts, block, heads, and crank.

Here's the specs on the Comp Magnum cam

A nice shot of the new Hyperteutectic flat tops, they're on stock rods resized with ARP bolts.
