I had noticed while parking or when turning sharply a rotational knocking type sound from the front. Turned out both hubs were stuck (and the front axles were not spinning freely). After a quick drive in 4x4 low, they unstuck. Cool I thought.
I have also been noticing a hum coming from the left front. I can feel it in floor a bit. Its not super loud but its there. Not a grinding sound but more of a mid pitched hum, that's the best way I can describe it.
Someone please chime in on this one! I'm having the same sound while turning but my Ex is 2wd. No rattling or shaking of any kind, just a low deep humming from the left front while turning. Goes away when the steering is str8. Any help appreciated. Not trying to hijack your thread...but thought we might be having the same type of issue. No change in pitch
Thanks for the linked thread. I put on a aftermarket cat back and the sound started, so my guess is something moved a little up front. I'll have to pinpoint it now. Love this site and many folks on here. New it was something with the exhaust, since that's all I have changed.
My sound isn't a rumbling or a roar and its not related to turning. I hear just driving down the road doing 45mph. Its probably sort of like the hum from aggressive tires only mine are not. Its not the tires...
I'm going to jack up the car this weekend and spin the left front and see if anything seems wrong.

Just put banks headers and exhaust on mine a few weeks ago, first drive had a freaky sound on left turns. Was the flange of the passenger side pipe where it connects to the CAT hitting the heat shield. Only did it on left turns when the truck flexed. Rotated the flange a bit, took a BFH to the shield a bit and bent a fraction and no more sound.
I don't know about the whirring noise but the chirping could easily be a leaking up-pipe or a leak in the pressurized charge air circuit. (anything from the intake filter all the way to the intake plenums.). If you notice it more under acceleration when the turbo starts making boost rather than gentle cruise or idle that is even more likely to be one of those things.
