Today my 2001 F250 7.3 4x4 started making a sound whenever I turn left. I purchased it new & it only has 132k miles on it. It isn't a constant whirring sound like a normal bearing would make but it sounds like it's making a scrub scrub scrub scrub sound & the faster I'm going into the turn the faster the scrub sound is. Any suggestions or recommendations as to what this might be? Thanks
Just spitballin' but a sound that changes with speed (rotation) makes me lean towards hub as Djosbun mentioned. These unitized wheel hubs are stout but not the beefiest things around. There's an inner needle bearing that can't be lubed with the hub installed.
If it's scrubbing when you turn left then your most likely culprit is the right (passenger's) side hub since it gets way more loading when your turn left.

the unit bearing would be my guess. they're hit and miss for longevity. I got 190K out of mine
Thanks for the input, as it turns out the wheel bearings were bad on the left & the right!
just a fyi, riffraff makes a bearing grease adapter tool. it bolts in place of the wheel speed sensor for greasing and is then removed. check it out, it may help with extending the life of your new bearings
