the Nippon Denso is a osgr [off set gear reduction] type,& original ford [Mitsubishi ] is a plgr [planatery gear reduction] type.[ Mitsubishi m8t50071 is a 2.5kw] & [m8t500 is 3.6 kw] Nippon Denso comes in 2.5kw & 4.0kw. its been mentioned the china knock off of Nippon Denso wont hold well.I have a 2.5kw Nippon Denso thats working great but dont have enough time or miles on it to recommend it yet.

Well, the starter acted fine rest of summer, but recently started going goofy again. I pushed my luck, and this morning it quit starting. Off to NAPA, 235 for new with lifetime warranty. In stock, easy enough to replace, starts great. Two bolt, figured the one that has been on it has worked for at least 30k miles, so what the heck.
Will see.
Thanks again.

Any other thoughts on which way to go appreciated.

Thanks.
It will work no problem. Mine is a Mitsubishi 3-bolt for the 7.3L and it bolted up nicely, and from all indications thus far it's a strong unit. Here are some images. If you have more questions post up. Good Luck!

I also bought a Napa starter 4 yrs ago and just recently it went out. Easy swap, but new one seems like the crank is weaker. The lifetime warranty is great, plus Napa not too far away. Only issue is the starter always fail when I'm in the middle of nowhere.

When I'm in the middle of nowhere, which is about once a month, I have a spare starter, and alternator, just to name a few of the things in my uh oh box.
